BIOS Update Nessarcy?
Hey guys!
I've got a quick question; I've got a modded Dell optiplex 3020 MT and I want to install Arch, but before I do so, I was thinking of updating the bios. My current version is A03, and even though I've heard online that it's not necessary to update bios or that newer bios updates can limit CPU performance in different ways, it does provide better security and other possible updates that could be beneficial. Here's my two main questions; For someone who cares about security, along with squeezing out every frame I can for games, should I update the BIOS, and should I, specifically update before I install my os?
Any feedback is appreciated!

I would of update BIOS only to repair system or to meet requirements of certain components installation. As for security concerns, it should be taken care of at the front end by keeping operating system secure and vigilant practices when surfing internet and running, opening files after being scanned by security software.

@Chino de Oro,
Thanks for your feedback! I definitely will keep my PC safe with safe browsing, security software, opening files, etc... However, the additional security offered by Dell could always be worth it, as certain vulnerabilities do exist, but is it possible that more recent bios updates or firmware limit CPU or other component capability with power limits or other methods? If so, is it still worth updating for the added security? I'm just trying to weigh my options when it comes to security vs performance.
Thanks a lot for your response!
