BIOS update for optiplex 9010 problem

I have installed win7 x64 on my 9010, then all the drivers except Intel ME, it says This Platform Is Not Supported. Tried both versions (oldest and latest) that are available for 9010 optiplex but with no result.
Is there any way to update BIOS without Intel ME drivers? Or how can i fix "This Platform Is Not Supported" for them? Is it possible now to update bios on win10 or FreeDOS? Tried all the ways but after installing bios update and reboot nothing happens. My version is a15 and i try a16

Have you found a service jumper on motherboard?  This kind of no flash actually happens is quite common.  It could be an Intel ME corruption disables bios write access.

On a desktop motherboard user may be able to disable ME meddling by using the service jumper?  It is worth a try.

I doubt reinstall ME management driver would solve problem. In my case when I tried to install I got an error.

the service mode jumper is advanced tech trick not for common users.  this case illustrated that when Intel ME is corrupted users cannot update bios in the normal way.  There is no error message either.  the Dell bios.exe runs and restarts PC but nothing happens.  thank you for sharing this interesting case.

Re: Is there any way to update BIOS without Intel ME drivers?

you do not need to update ME driver in order to update BIOS.

note on these legacy model flash bios can be risky.  do it at your risk and only when it is absolutely necessary.  you have A15.  the latest version is A30.  you can try small incremental updates

Re: Is it possible now to update bios on win10 or FreeDOS?

one way is to put dos.exe on a usb and press F12 on power up and choose flash bios.

@redxps630
I just have made usb flash drive with Dell DDDP. Unplugged everything non-critical for the system (CMOS battery, HDD, SSD, Cd-drive, even left only one ddr3 RAM). Then i start DDDP on my optiplex, C:\>o9010a16.exe. A16 bios update runs, pc restarts and nothing happens, bios version is still a15

try replace cmos battery w a new one then clear cmos settings via mobo jumper,  then try F12 or bootable Dell usb flash drive containing bios.exe again

@redxps630 Yet i have unstalled new duracell 2032 battery instead of my dead one. Just tried https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000124377/how-to-perform-a-bios-or-cmos-reset-and-clear-the-nvram-on-dell-systems#:~:text=Locate%20the%202-pin%20CMOS,power%20cable%20from%20the%20computer
with no effect
After all CMOS manipulations i started flash usb drive on Dell dos and with A16 bios update. No result at all, still A15 bios

if you find a service jumper on mobo try put it on which may enable manufacture mode.  not sure if this would help bios flash.  users report sometimes bios flash fail.  I had seen it in Dell laptop too.  do you see any dialog asking you to confirm to replace A15 w A16?  any mention of manifestation of current A15 on dialog if there is one.  in my case there was a dialog but it still did not flash on restart.

@redxps630
Yes, both from WIN and DOS installations start as normal, dialogue window appears suggesting A16 instead of A15, it installs, then pc reboots with DELL logo and no any installation progress. Tried winXP, Win7 both x64/x86, Win10 and FreeDOS/DellDos. Everything goes at exactly the same scenario: Confirmation - Installation - Reboot > no result. Tried different BIOS versions even A30 (yes i know that it is impossible to flash bios from a15 directly to a30) and it has the same result. I dont know maybe trying to install A30 on A15 bios should end with any error message but it does not.

@redxps630 Finally it worked for me. I put jumper in srvc mode and bios flash started succesfully. Its a pity that such a small tip never mentioned in DELL instructions
