the firmware repository file does not exist or is invalid
After installing OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter version 2.2.0 build 251 I cannot run firmware update wizard successfully. I receive the error below. The repository path is currently set for: http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/vcenter-plugin/latest. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Details: Configure the firmware update repository and make sure there is a valid catalog file present. Once configured, allow 10 minutes for the firmware bundles to be downloaded.

The dell plugin for vcenter is pointing to dell online http://ftp.dell.com/catalog/Catalog.xml.gz. When I browse to http://ftp.dell.com/catalog I see a list of files but there is to Catalog.xml.gz file there. There is a Catalog.xml bk.gz file from yesterday 10/2/2014. It looks as if someone renamed the file.

We have the same problem here with our installation. I can see in the proxy log the request for ftp.dell.com/catalog/catalog.xml.gz, but this file doesn´t exist any more.

Hi,
The catalog in the Dell ftp site is now restored. Firmware update now works fine from OMIVV. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Guys,
This seems broken again, OMIVV appliance set to: http://ftp.dell.com/catalog/Catalog.xml.gz but actual one on live FTP is: http://ftp.dell.com/catalog/catalog.xml.gz I believe the upper-case/lower-case is breaking the firmware update here as the appliance is linux-based and thus, case-sensitive.

I am having the same problem. Everything was fine a week ago and then hasn't worked for the last two days. My system is hard coded to look for Catalog.xml.gz and the ftp site has catalog.xml.gz so it looks like its broken again. After reviewing this post I don't understand why they keep breaking it.

I have the same problem with a fresh VMWare Integration 3.1 that I have installed to try out (because Dell's repository manager was so broken, ironically.)
Why is the software looking for catalog.xml.gz when the file on the server is Catalog.xml.gz?
For crying out loud, just put them up there with both spellings and stop breaking it. Write some some scripts to make sure you don't keep screwing it up and set up a monitor to alert you if the correct files aren't there. Make sure ftp.dell.com is never too busy to provide the file.
I have been very impressed with other dell software but the lack of testing for *both* of the firmware updating workflows I have tried is ridiculous.

Looks like this problem just reoccurred. My OMI is looking for catalog.xml.gz and not finding it

Same error here, fresh install of OMIVV 3.1:
The firmware repository file does not exist or is invalid. : Configure the firmware update repository and make sure there is a valid catalog file present. Once configured, allow 10 minutes for the firmware bundles to be downloaded.
Does anyone have a fix?
