Scheduling multiple firmware updates.

We recently had to update 15 clusters with a critical firmware update.  Since we cannot more than one at a time it took a long time to do the updates.  Any plans to address this issue?

Hello Alan,

Support for parallel firmware update on multiple clusters will be part of the upcoming release of OMIVV, which is currently scheduled for Jan 2017.

With OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter (OMIVV) you can update the entire groups in VMware already. OMIVV will update one node at a time see this Whitepaper How to do firmware updates

In the future I would build an firmware update ISO using Dell Repository Manager and just use the iDRAC to boot into the ISO and apply all relevant firmware updates.  I started to it that way recently cause it is much faster than OMIVV imho.

Unfortunately the only groups is supports is by cluster and since there can only be one job per virtual center we have to wait for the first one to complete before scheduling the next one.  We currently have 15 2 node clusters each at a different site but we are deploying this setup to over 70 sites.

OMIVV does make this a lot easier than patching through the idrac but it is not quite as easy as deploying vmware patches and drivers where we can update multiple sites at the same time in parallel.
