OMIVV 5.4 - CSR generation without email field
Hi all,
we have a problem, as CSR generation for OMIVV 5.4 requires the email field, but the CA where to submit it doesn't accept CSR with email populated.
Is there a way to generate CSR from the appliance omitting the email field, or to generate a custom CSR and upload it with the CA signed certificate?
Thank you, regards.

Cicciojc,
I am not certain that you can, what you could try is to use OpenSSL to edit it, but I am not highly confident that it would work. You may want to look at another CA, as I have not seen a CA that doesn't accept an email field, as it has been standard for over 15 years now.
Let me know if this helps.

Hello Chris,
thank you for your feedback, but the option to change CA is not achievable.
Moreover, i fear that changing the CSR is impossible.
So, by your knowledge, there is no way to generate a CSR without the email filed, maybe from command line? Or, with a newly generated CSR outside the appliance, upload both CRS and certificate?
Thank you, regards.

Cicciojc,
As far as I know there isn't, and you wouldn't have the option to do outside of the appliance as you must generate the CSR from within the OM Enterprise appliance only.
You may also consider calling in to the OpenManage/SysMgmt group and discuss with them if there are any additional options I am not aware of.

Hello Chris,
thank you for the feedback.
After this finding, the new objective will be only to get the OMIVV talking with the vCenters. I think this is achievable using the self signed certificate, right? In this case, no CSR/CA intervention will be needed.
