OMIVV 5.0 works fine for a 1/2 hour after reboot then becomes non- responsive
I am running 6.7 U3 Vcenter and 6.0 U3 ESXI hosts. Both are listed as compatible with OMIVV 5.0. I was able to install and register Vcenter and the hosts with no issue. Everything runs great for 1/2 hour. Health statistics and host information is visible. Then OMIVV Host Health and Host information becomes non-responsive on the summary page of each host. If you try to access the web page for OMIVV 5.0 it takes for ever to come up and is very sluggish. you can not even access the console to reboot it. If you reboot OMIVV again everything is good for about 30 minutes and this non- responsive cycle starts all over.
When OMIVV becomes non- responsive I see the below message in the Host Information window. The server can be pinged but the website does not come up or comes up very slowly
A web server communication error occurred between the host and OMIVV appliance. Wait for a few minutes for the communication to automatically reset. If the communication is not reset, verify the IP address of the appliance to ensure the appliance is connected to the network. If on the network, restart the appliance. If the issue persists, contact your service provider.

Hello
That sounds like a system resource issue. I would monitor resource usage to see if you can narrow it down to memory, disk, etc.
Thanks

Hi bsquillace,
Few queries around the observation,
a) What is number of hosts managed by OMIVV
b) What is deployment mode of OMIVV – Default deployment mode is ‘Small’, recommended for managing up to 250 hosts.
c) Any anomalies in resource consumption for OMIVV virtual machine or any issues/alarms triggered for OMIVV virtual machine.
d) Is only OMIVV pages are failed to load, or all vCenter pages are failed to load. If vCenter pages fails load, please have a look into this VMware KB.
e) Is OMIVV configurated with dual-NIC
f) Is any OMIVV network configuration is changed/updated recently.
Thank You,
Vineeth

Hi bsquillace,
Any Alert Management configuration change is done at OMIVV administration console before you start observing this issue.

Hi,
Do you resolve your issue ?
I have the same, I need to reboot the appliance every 30 minutes.
Java seems to have some OutOfMemory...

N.

Hi,
In fact, we have to open a support case. It's a problem with the DB backend in the appliance.
Also, we upgraded the deployement size, even if we are below the limits.
They sent us a new upgrade link and now, it's OK.
Maybe, this will be set in the next release in few months.
Regards,
N.

Hello,
I have the same behavior in my homelab.
I'm curious when you say "They sent us a new upgrade link".
When I check for updates in my OMIVV appliance, there's none available, "No new version is available."
Did you get an unpublished official upgrade?

To get the new update 5.0.1: log in to the OMIVV Administration Console and change the Update Repository Path to this one:
