Error when trying to connect to the root of three hosts...

Good afternoon,

I have installed and licensed the latest version of Dell OpenManage Integration Plugin for VMware vCenter v3.1.  I have a 10 host license.  I have two sites, managed by two different vCenter servers.  I am running ESXi 5.5 Update 3b and the latest vCenter software.

On the first site, I am having no issues connecting to the iDRACs and hosts.  On the second site, I can connect to the iDRACs, but all of the hosts come back with a response that states, "Fail - Unable to contact Host. Check host credentials, network connectivity, or OMSA agent (if applicable)."

I have verified that the credentials are correct.  I have no connectivity issues to the hosts, so I'm at a loss here.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

This error was caused by the fact that all Dell servers prior to the 12th Generation (12G) require the OMSA (OpenManage Server Assistant) VIB installed in VMware before you can manage the server.  Generation 12 and later have it integrated.  The Dell documentation on this is hard to find and didn't come with the OpenMange Integration Plugin for VMware.

I found a great website link from a user on how to install the VIB.

All is good now!

Hi all,

So does this mean that 13G servers don't need the vSphere OMSA VIB installed? I have a similar issue where I can't connect to my servers via iDRAC but the Host credentials work fine...

Should I uninstall the OMSA VIB from these hosts?

Cheers,
