Change OMIVV appliance FTP timeout?
Is it possible to change the FTP timeout in the OMIVV appliance? We very frequently get the "The repository is being updated by another process. : The repository is being updated by another process. Allow 10 minutes for the firmware bundles to be downloaded and retry." message and we're 99.999% sure it has to do with the extremely slow response from the ftp.dell.com server(s). When we open a normal ftp session to ftp.dell.com the appliance already complains about the repository being updated and about 15-25 seconds after that the ftp.dell.com session gives a first login prompt so it's way to slow.

Hi,
Unfortunately, I do not see a way to change the timeout. You may want to try to do a trace-route to the ftp site and maybe you can see where it is slowing down.

The 3 slowest hops are all alter.net which seems to be your hosting party (just by judging the name of the last hop)
12 164 ms 164 ms 164 ms dell-gw.customer.alter.net [63.65.121.6]
the responses stop after that hop but it seems fast enough up until that last one.
Fail to see how this info could help me as most of these hops are not exactly in my circle of influence anyway (we could switch to another server brand but that is probably not your intention)
:)
But I guess somewhere in the appliance is a script waiting for an 220 response of the ftp server and responds with a "The repository is being updated by another process. Allow 10 minutes for the firmware bundles to be downloaded and retry." if that doesn't arrive in a timely fashion wouldn't you agree? Surely something could be done to "fix" this, maybe not "easy/clean" but that was not one of my criteria anyway. As a workaround I'm now forced to deal with the repository/DUPs myself which is also not easy/quick.
