OpenManage plugin for Nagios Core 3.0 templates

Hi Everybody,

I've just tested the new 3.0 version plugin. A lot of changes, the Force10 Support is welcome, but I have a question: On 2.1, I could create service templates for different type of hosts and storages (like blade template, like chassis template, and so on...) In the version 3.0 I cannot find this feaure, or I just missed something?

Thanks,

Dell - Internal Use - Confidential

Hello Tibor,

Thanks for showing interest in Dell EMC Nagios plugin and provide your inputs.

Due to some architectural and approach changes we have done service create templates feature differently only for this release but in subsequent release we will have this feature back to its original form.

Here is the solution for controlling service creation for each device:

Go to Dell EMC Nagios Core Plugin installed location [ by default: /usr/local/nagios/Dell_OpenManage_Plugin]

  1. ‘Scripts’ folder
  2. Take a backup of ‘nagios_properties.py’ script.
  3. Edit ‘nagios_properties.py’ as per your requirement:
  4. Go to ‘dell_device_services’ json tree
  5. You will fine different sub tree for each Dell EMC devices – example : iDRAC, CMC, EqualLogic, MDArray, Compellent, F10, NSeries
  6. Traverse to the Dell EMC devices tree which service you don’t want to create.
  7. Go to that service and commented out full section for that service.
  8. Example: iDRAC -> Sensors_Fan -> Commented out this service.
  9. Run the device discovery now. And you should see only those service created which are uncommented.

Dell EMC also offer a plugin for NagiosXI, in that you can get same feature in NagiosXI wizard where you can select and de-select service for each devices.
