nagios check on r630

I installed nagios openmanage plugin 3.1 for nagios core.

idrac firmware is 2.75.75.75

server is r630 with idrac enterprise

most of the checks are returning unknown status.

example on Dell EMC Server Physical Disk Status

Total Instances: 4, Healthy Instances: 4, Warning Instances: 0, Critical Instances: 0, Unknown Instances: 0
[Rollup status not available]

is it something that I need to enable to get the "rollup status" ?   or is it not supported on r630 ?

I am experiencing the same issue with an R330. That server also has an Enterprise iDRAC on firmware version 2.75.75.75. The "Dell EMC Server Overall Health Status" has a status of "OK", but the status information for each component is "Unknown". I enabled some of the individual checks for that server (such as "Dell EMC Server Fan Status" and "Dell EMC Server Physical Disk Status"), but those checks have a status of "Unknown" and the status information has the same "Rollup status not available" message as alan_space describes.

If I run the python script manually, I get an error stating "Unable to get status information due to technical issues". Not very descriptive.

Hopefully someone will have a solution to this issue soon!

Hi Alan, did you make any progress with this? We often see glitches with the state of the various hardware controllers on the R630. We hope later firmware versions will be more stable.

I have similar issue with r740.

the "Rollup status not available"  is showing on physical and virtual disc checks, network device check and controller status check.

what I found is that the script redfish.py is trying to get the rollup data from idrac. the returned json simply does not return the data the script is looking for.

Hey @alan_space have you been able to make any progress with this? I can't seem to get any further than you indicated in your last post. I've also tried SNMP to no avail.

I'm also wondering what OS you're running Nagios Core on, and how you installed Nagios Core. I am using CentOS 8, and then installed Nagios using dnf (modern equivalent of yum). I then had to go through many gyrations just to get the OpenManage plug-in to install. Namely, I had to set up a dummy root Nagios file structure per DestinX's post in this forum: https://www.dell.com/community/OpenManage-Connections-for-Third/Dell-OpenManage-Plugin-for-Nagios-Core-with-CentOS-and-Nagios/td-p/5126562/page/2. I'm wondering if any of that may be playing into this issue.

I'm having the same problem on PowerEdge R440 IDRAC 9 firmware version 4.22.00.53.

I'm using protocol 3, if I use protocol 2 I get the exceedingly helpful "Unable to get status information due to technical issues."

What is "rollup status" ? Why is it not being returned?

Maybe Dell should weigh in on this?

I'm having this problem on an r630 too.  Under "Dell EMC Server Overall Health Status", the "Overall System = OK", but voltage, storage, etc are all unknown.  Other services like "Dell EMC Server CPU Status" report something like:

Total Instances: 2, Healthy Instances: 2, Warning Instances: 0, Critical Instances: 0, Unknown Instances: 0

[Rollup status not available]

The plugin works on a relatively new PowerEdge R640.

I think I figured this out. This issue was only happening to me when I monitored devices using Redfish. Using WSman instead of Redfish fixed the issue.

Does anyone have a solution for the "Rollup status not available" ?

I am using  PowerEdge R540 and Nagios Core plugin. Half of them are working and the other half not

e.g.

Dell EMC Server Controller Status   UNKNOWN

Total Instances: 3, Healthy Instances: 1, Warning Instances: 0, Critical Instances: 0, Unknown Instances: 2
#1 Status = Unknown, FQDD = 0, CacheSize = 0 MB, FirmwareVersion = Not Available, Name = C620 Series Chipset Family SSATA Controller [AHCI mode]
#2 Status = Unknown, FQDD = 0, CacheSize = 0 MB, FirmwareVersion = Not Available, Name = C620 Series Chipset Family SATA Controller [AHCI mode]

[Rollup status not available]

-----------------------

Dell EMC Server FC NIC Status UNKNOWN No response from the host.

Any idea what is wrong with it?

2023 and this issue is still happening....

The thing is that I was able to solve it back in the day BUT I don't remember

That being said I shouldn't "fix" things that Dell has implemented incorrectly
