OMSA on Virtual Machine have access to ESXi
Hello All,
I am new to the Dell Community. Can OMSA install on a VM "Windows 2016" have access to a ESXi host? When I run the setup all I get is "Server Administrator Web Server" I dont get the "Server Instrumentation"? When it is installed all I get is "Server Administrator". But I cant connect to a ESXi host. I am able to ping but not connect from OMSA
thanks,
Lance

OMSA for ESXi is a little different. You need to install the OMSA agent in ESXi, there is a .VIB package to this I'll link to. Once it is installed, a reboot would be needed. You should then be done with the host and would move onto a VM or a host running either Windows or Linux. On this other VM/Host, OMSA would need to be installed. If in a VM, you'll only get the web server, as you saw. This is normal, and you would just need to continue the install. When it completes, you can launch OMSA from the VM or other host and there is an option to manage another remote host at the login screen. You would provide the information for the ESXi host itself there. This will cause the OMSA client on the VM to query the OMSA agent on the host and provide you the information you would normally see in Server Administrator.
