Server Keeps Restarting when Network Connected
PowerEdge server boots fine when Ethernet cable is not connected to a switch or router. When Ethernet connected the server keeps restarting. The boot does not actually start, the initial high fan speed of start up goes for a few seconds then it shuts down and starts again. If I disconnect the Ethernet it boots up completely.

Thank you. Poweredge T100 running Windows SBS 2008. No, there are no messages displayed during the restarts. It is not far enough along for that, the fan just goes fast for the initial power on cycle, slows a bit before completely stopping for a couple seconds and starts again. Each cycle is about 4 or 5 seconds. I will check online for the updates you mentioned, I will have to do it by USB. I'm going to try getting a USB Wireless adapter to work first.

Purchased a working replacement T100 server but the hardware is not exactly the same. The old server was quad-core Xeon processor and the replacement is not. I am now getting “Activate Windows Now” prompts. I got the replacement server without hard drives; the previous owner could be using the activation key that is on the sticker of the replacement hardware. Should I activate with the product key that came with the original Xeon based hardware?

Hello I work for Microsoft and similar issue has come across with one of the clients who has tried this thing in a physical as well as a VM on hyper-v and it’s a server 2016 where it just reboots as soon as it starts when connected to the network adapter and when tried to reboot with out nic it starts and works fine. The client has works with Dell before coming to MS and the Dell support said said it is the issue with MS but I just don’t get it how, please share if you have any idea about it.
