R710 Hitachi SAS drive issue
Hi,
I have a R710 server. I have 6 SAS drive slots.
I am upgrading the drives to larger 600Gb each..
I am only using 3 of the drives slots so I can use RAID5.
I purchased qty 3 -Hitachi HUS156060VLS600 drives. When I powered on the server and log in to the RAID (H700) controller iI can all the drives as "ready".
When I create either a RAID-5 or really anything, the initialization always turns the drives into "failed". I know there is some type of fix on the website for this type of drive for R710s. But, it runs under windows, and obviously, with no ability to see the drives -- no windows can be loaded.
I have used the system services configurator to update drivers and firmware to latest on all hardware.
I know these drives should work, but I am stuck on how to get them to initialize without failing.
Any help would be appreciated.

SimpsonComputing,
The Hitachi you are using does show to be supported on the R710, but there are currently updates available for that specific drive, located here. I would verify that the hard drives, as well as the BIOS, iDrac and specifically the raid controller (Perc6i, H700) are current on updates. I recommend updating the BIOS and iDrac as you will have to reboot for the raid controller update, so use the downtime to get the server up to date. Now if your server is far behind the versions of the updates provided then let me know before you try to update, as jumping to many updates can cause issues.
Once updated then try configuring the Virtual Disk again and let us know how it goes.
