Hi,

What OS are you running? What happened when you tried to update from dvd?

Can you power off and unplug it for about a minute and then power it back on so the iDRAC and LCC can fully reboot?

it didnt have any at first i was able to set up a raid6 and install ubuntu server 16.4.3 the cd i used was a dvd linux.iso image from the dell repository manager burned the image and bios kept saying no bootable media available same result through the LC got the same result using a USB wouldn't even let me install an OS at first until i booted to UEFI and was able to install ubuntu from USB using Rufus i can access the  drac used dell let me install the LC repair 1.7  but now LC says ver: says unavailable in drac and says its out of date when I use F10, the bios are up to date at 6.4 when i got the server  but idrac and LC are way old idrac 1.7 and LC 1.5. cant help but think i did something wrong somewhere.

If it is not being detected, you can’t update from the OS. You can try ctrl+E during post and toggle system services off and on and see if it starts working.

the i drac works fine i can acces it from browser i can open java console. it just doesnt tell me what version it is since i tried updated the LC to the 1.7 repair before that it said 1.5 but other than that idrac is fine. read in previous post that i drac and LC must be updated outside of the LC.

Solved this. accessed the Idrac6 on the network tried everything to update it and the other firmware on the server, with no luck, tried bootable dvd, and usb but nothing tried ftp but as other dell articles will tell you, if the LC and Idrac firmware are to old it will not update from ftp. so what to do  then if the cd/dvd wont work and the USB wont stay mounted? here is what I did.

1.go to dell support site go to download page for the R610.

2. Download the newest IDRAC software for the poweredge R610 Rackserver-(monolith) version.(ESM_Firmware_9GJYW_WN32_2.90_A00.exe)

3. use an unzip software to extract the payload folder from the exe file. ( I used 7-zip it free) after unpacking the .exe file find the payload folder and inside is a file call  (firmdate.d6)

4. Log in to your IDRAC console go to update firmware tab browse to find the (firmdate.d6) you just unpacked and hit update.takes about 5 min to update and your drac should be at firmware version 2.9.

5. Now update the lifecycle controler by going back to dell support site under (Lifecycle control Legacy) choose the (1.7.5 repair package) then clicked on "older versions" and choose the (Repair Package V 1.5.5,A00) "as its the next version newer then my current". download it and log back into your IDRAC console and again used the IDRAC update firmware tab to find and install it.

6 Once done i can now go to the server restart hit F10 and tell the LC to update from Dell.ftp and everything else updates Bios, Nic cards, and Drivers.

this whole process took about 30 min.

before this I spent 8 plus hours trying  to update with CD/DVD and USB with no luck.

hope this helps
