PE2900 III W/ PERC/6i - RAID 1 Predictive Failure

I have a PE2900 III W/ PERC/6i, Windows 12 Standard AD server

Drive 0 and 1 make up a RAID 1 and Drive 1 alternates green amber and off.  I'm running Windows 12 Standard.  

I'd like to replace the drive that is predicting failure, but I can't get into Open Manage (it won't launch now but it always ran previously).  

My understand is that I should first force the failing drive offline before I pull it hot out of the server and put in a new drive, but since I'm not able to launch OM, I can't force the drive offline.  

So I need to know how to proceed...

Should I reboot the server and use the PERC configuration utility to the take the failing drive offline, put in a new drive and rebuild the RAID array it that utility?  

Of should I just pull out the failing drive and stick in a new drive without rebooting and it will rebuild the array hot?

Or is there another option?
