Help with a non-critical error on a new non-Dell certified Seagate hard drive installed in a Dell PowerEdge T620

We would just like to know if Dell can confirm the drive is good and this is a non-issue.  We would also like to know if there is a way to clear the error also.

Thank you,

Hello

We would just like to know if Dell can confirm the drive is good and this is a non-issue.

No, we cannot confirm that. The warning message is intentional. The warning that the drive is non-certified does not indicate that the drive is at fault, but we do not test with non-Dell drives when creating or updating firmware on our controllers. Our controller firmware is designed to work with drives running Dell firmware.

The warning exists to make non-certified drives easily identifiable and to make it very obvious that they are being used. We had planned to completely block the use of non-certified drives on our PERCs, but we decided to allow them to function with this warning instead.

We would also like to know if there is a way to clear the error also.

No, the warning cannot be disabled.

Thanks

We used to be able to disable the warnings with a registry hack...IF i remember correctly.  And it is a problem when it halts the reboot sequence until the alert is responded to.
