Dell T310 s100 raid capacity / drivers?
Hi I have a Dell T310 with the S100 raid controller. I am looking for some advice as to what this machine can handle.
I am looking to turn this server into a NAS of some sort for my backups and would like to fill it with 4-8TB if possible.
Here are my questions:
1. What is the largest size drive per bay that will fit in this server?
2. I was looking to fun VMware ESXi 6.0 with freenas - to you recommend this or have a better suggestion?
3. Tried installing server 2012 r2 and can not find drivers to load OS.
4. Would it make sense to load an OS and rain 0 the drives within the operating system?
Thank you

Thanks for the detailed response.
I do have a perc 6 laying around but the power connector is different. Is there an adapter? I believe the perc 6 has a P3 and the server has a P2 - different pin counts. I believe the perc 6 has 10 and what I have internally is an 8 pin.
