Dell PowerEdge T410 Hot Spare Drive Question

Hello. Thanks for taking the time to read my question. I have the above server that has 6 drive slots numbered 0-5. I have drives in slots 0-3. Drives 0-2 were in my raid 5 array. The drive in slot 3 was set as a global hot spare. Drive 2 failed and the hot spare in drive 3 joined the array with no issues. So now I have drives 0,1, and 3 in my raid 5 array. I pulled out the bad hard drive in slot 2 so that slot is now empty. I have a replacement drive on the way. I want to put that back in the server as a hot spare. Should I put the replacement drive back into slot 2 or should I use slots 4 or 5? Also, if I put the replacement drive back into slot 2, will it try to rebuild into the raid 5 array or will it set itself as a global hot spare? Also, how do I get rid of the server display warning telling me that drive 2 has been removed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your response Robert. It is a Perc 6/i controller. So you are saying that once the drive comes in, I should pop it back into slot 2. It will then rebuild from the drive in slot 3 only and then the drive in slot 3 will revert to a hot spare?

Thanks so much for your help on this Robert. I got the drive in and placed it in the same spot that the bad drive was in. It then copied the data from the hot spare and reverted the hot spare back to a hot spare.
