CPU 1 MEM VDDQ PG voltage is outside of range.

My server PowerEdge R420 keeps shutting down once a day and today has done it couple times already. When I check the logs, this is what I am seeing and it also is showing up on the server display. This is the error that I am seeing,

CPU 1 MEM VDDQ PG voltage is outside of range.

CPU 1 MEM VTT PG voltage is outside of range.

Has anyone seen or experienced such error?

Thanks!

Hello Robert,

This is a production server and I am trying to avoid a long down time. Is this the only way to go about fixing this issue?

Thanks,

Sami

So, if I clear those logs, are saying that this might prevent the servers from shutting down?

Hi,

Not wishing to hijack this thread, but we too are seeing the identical issue on one of our R420s.  As this is one of our core domain controllers, it is critical to our operation.  We first developed this error at the end of 2016 - and I spent my holiday troubleshooting.  After replacing the Motherboard (twice), processor, power distribution board, and both power supplies, we appeared to have finally resolved the issue.  However yesterday the server rebooted itself yet again - and lo and behold - the 'voltage is outside of range' error once again.

Extremely frustrated - it seems this isn't an isolated issue (we certainly had two motherboards exhibiting this behavior).  What can we try next?  Any Ideas?

Thanks.

Wow!! That's certainly not good at all. I just had Dell tech replaced the MB for us yesterday and the prospect of this to reoccur is frightening. Were these replacement MBs coming from Dell?
