Why does Dell remove/delete bad/negative product reviews from their website?

I was considering buying Dell laptop model V5459-50814G-DOS, but could not find any reviews on Dell's website. When I googled, I found only one review and it was accusing Dell of deleting review.

In this interview, a Dell senior manager Stuart Wallock says, that don’t ever censor your reviews, or you’ll lose all credibility. I could not agree more with him.

How come there are no reviews for the laptop Dell has been selling half an year? Are all reviews removed as they were too negative? Why was that particular review not accepted? Sounds very alarming.

PS. I was asked to open a new discussion after posting this message to an old, closed thread.

Hi Bumiputra,

Thanks for posting on the Dell Community Forum.

According to the specifications for this model, it has no operating system. I apologize that you feel that negative posts are being removed, in checking this out, this doesn't appear to be the case.

Since the majority of customers reading this forum are in the USA and they prefer to purchase computers with an operating system pre-installed, there wouldn't be many reviews for this model. Additionally, Dell discontinued the Vostro line as of July of 2013.

Hopefully this will explain things a bit more, and if you have further questions, please contact me privately.

Regards,
Robert

Dear Mr. Robert,

Thank you for your kind reply.

According to the specifications for this model, it has no operating system. I apologize that you feel that negative posts are being removed, in checking this out, this doesn't appear to be the case.

We might have a slight misunderstanding here. I am talking about removing negative product reviews from your product pages, not forum posts. And the laptop has, indeed, an operating system, the best Dell has to offer: Ubuntu linux.

Since the majority of customers reading this forum are in the USA and they prefer to purchase computers with an operating system pre-installed, there wouldn't be many reviews for this model. Additionally, Dell discontinued the Vostro line as of July of 2013.

It is the same here in Malaysia that users prefer pre-installed operating system such as linux. Again this does not make any sense. Our local Dell Malaysia announced their new Dell Vostro 14 5000 models in late 2015 and  they are also asking users to write reviews in the Dell Malaysia product line web page at http://www.dell.com/my/p/vostro-14-5459-laptop/pd.aspx. I am still confused, why do you ask your customers for reviews to just delete them? Was there too few reviews as you imply and therefore they were removed? Were they all too bad?

Hopefully this will explain things a bit more, and if you have further questions, please contact me privately.

Please advice me how to make a private contact with you. Thank you.

Thank you, I got the message sent and replied. My question will require someone from Malaysia to answer. He is from the USA and does not know about local things here.
