Who to contact?

I posted a question in dell community and the post was moved to a different category, latitude. But I was hoping it could be moved to just dell computers in general since I was typing to get help understanding part # and descriptions. I feel part number and descriptions can be related to all dell computers and laptops and would have a greater chance of success if all computer communities could see it. Who can I talk to about this? Is there a forum master, manager I can speak with.

Hi there

Why on earth are posts requesting for help being immediately deleted? Yesterday I was asking for assistance on my overheating Inspiron 15 5570, which is NOT my first post. I wanted to edit it and it was gone. I tried again, later discovered it was inaccessible.

I wrote a regular poster, who has helped me in the past asking what is ging on and a day later, still no response.

What on earth is going on and how can normal users post like they have always done before?

I am not even sure someone is going to read or respond to this if not immediately deleted!

This morning, local time, I re-posted and when I try to access the post, get:

404

You can only edit a post for a short period of time after it is released -- after that it is locked.  This is an anti-spam measure.  There are posters who edit posts afterward to insert irrelevant spam links into them and try to bypass the spam filter.

It's unlikely you'll get an official support request through on the system you've asked about, which is a 2016 model and long end of life.

Thank you for responding.

My post was NOT to Dell support as this is an old model, but in THIS community forum and this is NOT the first post I have made in this forum. The last time, a couple of weeks ago, I posted on some ongoing battery replacement issues and in fact it was YOU I communicated with over some time, probably around a week to help resolve the issue.

The overheating issue post was made exactly the same way and yesterday, and after reading through the post sent minutes earlier, I wanted to edit a word or, but it was inaccessible. I am aware of th limited time for editing and I do not believe it was the issue. In any case, in all forums I am aware of, when the edit time expires, they do not delete the post when one attempts to edit, but it remains as it was, unedited.

There was no attempt to edit the second post BUT it included a link from THIS FORUM on the battery issue referred to above. When I went to check the page about an hour later, it was also a 404 error.

I tried again this morning, about 10 hours ago. If it had a link, it was the link to my previous post. Why are links allowed if one from this very forum, just 1, to help explain a problem from a previous problem makes the post be rejected as spam? There was no editing involved here and I was not surprised when the page was inaccessible minutes later.

I have made a couple of posts in this forum over the years, not many, but I have never encountered such illogical and frustrating rejection/deletion of posts.

I did a Google search and found that over years, some people have complained over deleted posts and I think in at least 2, 3 cases, it was acknowledged there was some local issue by te administrator(s).

I will give it another try tomorrow, but yesterdays and today's experiences had take away any interest to post.

Regards

None of them were deleted. They were held up by the spam AI awaiting moderator approval.

@DELL-Chris M

Thank you for clarifying that.

I am actually surprised to learn the posts were under moderation at all.

The fact is there was absolutely no sign of their existence even in my profile (!!!), which I repeatedly checked in disbelief as I tried to understand why I was getting a 404 error page, with my last post being shown to be a thread I started in April on a battery issue.

I would suggest Dell community forum administration learn something from other forums, many of which also use moderation, including AI-based.

2, 3 examples on some of the many sites where I actively post and I should say I also make and manage 2 Wordpress-based site moderated forums:

  • Newsweek dot com: if there is any reason to look into a post, on submission, there is a note added to the post, that it is awaiting moderation. One can access one's post all the time in one's profile. On a side note, this forum has apparently increasingly degenerated in the last 2, 3 years, of course through the work of human programmers. Whereas pro-Trump & pro-Putin/Russia, anti-Ukraine posts with insults aimed at Harris, Biden, Dems, Ukraine, lies, etc somehow ALWAYS go through, once one posts a challenge to any of them, negative, including legitimate questions about Trump & MAGA personalities & policies or responses to such comments, it is put under "awaiting moderation" and MOSTLY ends up being rejected for violating "community policies". The AI & site moderation, just like that of Grok (look-up recent 'MechaHitler') seem to know what to flag or parrot.
BUT, the status of the post is at least shown!
  • Wordpress forums: Posts basically go through, but once in a while, one is alerted it is awaiting moderation, especially if it has links and if logged in, if you try to access the bookmarked url, the status is shown and one access the post under their profile.
  • Also Washington Post, Huffpost ...

So instead of causing frustration, unnecessary upsets and probably additional, frantic duplicate posts as not all know about how this particular forum functions, just a simple alert about the moderation status should be made available to the poster. Why a poster can also not access their post awaiting moderation in their profile is also a mystery.

Best regards
