(Redirected) trying to hook up a 2nd display

i need to hook up my nvr  only  hookup on laptop is hdmi to set it up and i am trying to hook it up it up to my laptop 2nd display. 

it find the nvr but cannot change the resolution on 2nd display its grayed out. the main display i can change resolution...

why can't i change the resolution on 2nd display.

i bought this laptop and it seems like i don't have full control over what i can do why is this?
