(Redirected) Recovery after install of new hard drive on Studio 1555

Hello,

I had a new hard drive installed on my laptop. Since I have recovery discs and a complete back up on an external hard drive, I opted not to pay the additional $100.00 to reinstall everything. I fired up the laptop with great anticipation. Popped in the first recovery disc, everything working great so far. When complete, I ejected disc #1 & inserted disc #2 as instructed. Icon kept spinning & message never changed from "instert disc 2". I waited about 10 minutes, no change. Can't feel or hear the disc running. Pressed eject, nothing, pressed eject a few more times, nothing. Powered it off & on. Now my screen is back to square one and disc 2 remains in the drive, unable to eject. It is NOT the tray style where I could use a clip to eject. Please help. Thank you.

What Operating System? If it was Windows Vista or Windows XP you just wasted $100... which would have been better spent on a Windows 10 license.

Windows Vista reaches End of Life in April. Windows XP reached End of Life over 2 years ago...

You can download a Windows 10 .iso from Microsoft, make a Bootable USB for a Legacy BIOS. You can then clean install Windows 10 Home using your Windows 7 Home Premium Product Key:

The recovery discs contain windows 7 home. I haven't even gotten that far. After the first recovery disc installed, the second froze up and I can't get the disc out of the CD/DVD drive. I didn't spend $100.00 on any thing. I paid to have a brand new 1T hard drive installed, now I want to restore my lap top using my recovery discs.

I can't do any of that until I get through reinstalling from the recovery discs. It's a brand new hard drive, nothing on it to even get started, and recovery disc 2 is stuck in the drive.

You can use another computer e.g. a friends to download the .iso and make the Bootable USB.

Thank you. As you may be able to tell, I'm not very literate with the technicalities of this. It was always my understanding that as long as I had created my recovery discs and kept backups, I wouldn't have any problem. Thank you for your help and merry Christmas.

May I pick your brain once more?  Before my hard drive died, I installed Windows 10 during their free promotion. I did not find it user friendly, mostly because I use my lap top for self employment and was very comfortable with 7, so to learn a new OS was not in my schedule. Dell also informed me, when I reached out to them re: operating difficulty, that they don't support 10 nor have the required driver's for it. What can you teach me re: this info? Thanks again.
