Need help desperately for my old Vostro 1510 that will not start!!!
My old Vostro 1510 (my tried & true) I have had for 7-8 years running XP Pro SP3. Its really been a good little machine but just started having issues...Yesterday got the BSOD with stop code 07E. Researched doing system restore from command prompt thru startup screen & if necc doing the XP restore CD & even BIOS reset if necc.
So I tried doing the system restore to an earlier time by using the F8 button at startup...blue screen then said I had a windows setup config 32 corruption & I need to use the recovery disk...
Couldn't get a cd out of the internal drive but finally prevailed by holding eject button when re starting the computer.
I suppose it was a mistake to put the restore cd in at that point because nothing happened, just a black screen...I had to force close by pulling the battery because it won't shut off any other way.
Tried to start up again & it does make the usuall start up noise, the "can" symbol lights up at top of keyboard along w/ all three "lock" symbols near it but NOTHING else happens...black screen & I can't get the disk out of the CD drive.
I am contemplating manually pulling out the CD with a paper clip but wanted to post my issue here before I do that & ruin it even worse.
I have a newer dell laptop as I expected the old one to someday meet its maker but I have pictures on my old one that I need to save!!! You think I would have made a copy of those pictures but of course I didn't!! I don't care if the old one dies but I really need those pictures as they have a lot of sentimental value.
Can anyone help me restore this old one long enough to get my pictures from it????
Thanks,
DEE

You can try using a Linux bootable USB to recover your files, see my instructions here:
