Installation using recovery and repair function fails

I have a Dell XPS18 tablet.  I am trying to reinstall Win10 using the Recovery and Restore tool as suggested by Dell agent.  Downloaded the installation files to a usb drive.  Seemingly was successfully installing the OS when an error appeared, "Failed to repair the boot files, no usb drive attached".  Ironic in that I was using a usb drive for the install.  When I try to run it again, same error at the same point.  Tablet is out of warranty and I'm out of patience.  Thoughts aside from my insanity plea?
