I need help with dell 2005.

I just got a new dell 2005 LCD monitor to replace my current dell e551 tube monitor, because i thaught it was about time to get a flat panal display because everyone else has one, but the screen is really dim, the colours are all bland, and there are random white pixels on the screen. What is causing this, and if it is too damaged shouldni just get a new monitor.
