XPS12 Windows 8 Hyper-V networking\internet loss over wifi
My host laptop is the xps12 with Windows 8 and I am connecting to the internet via wi-fi. I have a Windows 8 Hyper-V VM. In Hyper-V manager I have a single Virtual Switch with a connection type "External Network"
When I load my VM the internet works for a short time within the VM and then arbitrarily stops. Once it has stopped I go to the host and can browse the internet. Some minutes later the host internet will cease to work. If I go back to the VM, the internet has then started to function again. It seems that only one instance of my internet connection (host or VM) will work at once and they switch after some time. If I reset the chosen External network in Hyoer-V Manager to Nothing and then back to the Intel value above it starts working immediately in the VM. If I shut down the VM, my host internet connectivity doesn't come back immediately, however if I disconnect and reconnect to my wifi it re-connects.
Does anyone have any idea what night be causing this and would be able to offer a solution?
Thanks in advance!
Anthony

Update to the update:

Creating an Internal Virtual Switch with a bridge across that and the wi-fi may now work...

Update:
I solved it by following the steps in the linked blog post:
blog.credera.com/.../using-your-windows-8-wireless-connection-inside-hyper-v
My initial instinct was to create an External Network Switch to connect to the outside world. Right? Wrong. Create an Internal one. Then ensure that your Wi-Fi network connection allows Internet connection sharing!
Microsoft could make it a bit more user friendly. Most people aren't going to know the difference between a NIC\Network Adapter\Virtual Switch and a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

Update. Still have the issue unfortunately. It is odd as when I am using my wifi at home the above works. When I am in the office the same setup doesn't. Frustrated.

So it seems that the internal Virtual switch with a bridge across the Wi-Fi works. However... It seems that with the XPS 12 after waking the laptop up from it's slumber (sleep) the Network connection doesn't renew sometimes. Therefore occasionally have to bring up the old DOS window to refresh the DHCP info > ipconfig /release > ipconfig /renew .
Also found out that removing a Virtual Switch which a VM relies on whilst it is saved is bad. Had to create a new one with the same name as the old to load it again!
