Wireless Network Connectivity
I recently installed a DW1525 mini PCIe card in an Inspiron 580s operating under Windows 7. I have found that it does not communicate with the WiFi router. I have installed the latest drivers for the computer and for the card without any resolution to the problem. The Windows troubleshooter states that it cannot bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter and the network adapter properties window shows that IP4v and IPv6 protocols are not connected. Is there a resolution to this problem?

Dear Todd,
Thank you once again for your input. The problem was fixed by getting into WLAN services and setting this to automatic at start up. Thank you for the time which you have devoted to fixing this problem for me.

Hi,
You may want to first try to reboot your router by unplugging the power for about 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in. Once the router is fully powered back up and working restart your system and see if it connects.
If not, then you may want to try to delete your wireless profiles in that system. Then shut your system down (fully, not restart). Wait a few seconds and power it back up. Windows should then try to rebuild it's connection to available networks and hopefully rebuild the IP stack.
If none of that helps then you may want to check out our Dell Network & Wireless Support Center. There are articles there that may be able to help you figure out what is going on.
All this is based on the assumption that your wireless network was working with the router previously but you wanted to upgrade to a better card. If you changed cards because you were unable to connect previously please let us know.

Dear Todd,
Thank you for your suggestions. Sadly, however, none of the measures have fixed the problem. I have read a number of articles on the Network & Wireless Support Center but I have found nothing which helps.
The computer was not originally equipped with WiFi capability. Recently, I was faced with a situation where a WiFi connection to my router would be valuable. Hence I bought the WiFi card and although a strong wireless signal is detected, I have not been able to get the operating system to bind the IP stack to the card.

Hello,
I found this article from Microsoft with what appears to be a possible resolution. There is a link on that page that also leads to this article, and although it refers to a different brand of adapter, also has some possibilities.
Here are a few other links that may be helpful.
Windows 7 - Windows could not automatically bind the IP stack protocol
Wifi Adapter could not bind IP stack
It seems that some people are finding that going into their WLAN services and setting it to automatic at start up, or going into netshell and resetting the winsock helps. Here is a video on doing that, which may be easier to follow.
