WiFi is unable to detect any networks until bandwidth capability is changed

I own a Dell Vostro 14, my laptop fails to detect ANY wifi connection randomly.

Even if I was using WiFi and had all network connection displayed just 10 minutes ago and haven't changed any thing, it stops detecting any available connections. When I go to wifi property and changed bandwidth capability, only then it starts detecting again. And it keeps switching the bandwidth capability option even if the laptop hasn't moved or used a new wifi connection. For example, if I change the bandwidth capability to 20MHz, it'll stop detecting wifi again in an hour and I have to change it back to 20/40MHz. I have to keep doing this multiple times in a day. I have changed drivers, re installed and and nothing besides changing the bandwidth capability works.

What should I do?

Hi,

Welcome to our community.

We’ll surely try to assist you. Rest assured you’ve reached the right department. Please let us know the wireless card installed in the system. We also request you to access the system in safe mode with networking and check if the issue occurs.

You can refer to this link to access safe mode and we’d appreciate you can send a screen shot of the device manager after expanding network adapters.

Share the following information via private message, so that we can check for more details and assist you. To send a private message, click on my name and select ‘Send private message’.

1. Service tag/ express service code
2. Email address
3. Registered owner’s name of the system

The Service Tag is a 7-character code, and the Express Service Tag is a 10-digit code that is a numeric version of the Service Tag. Both codes are on the bottom of your laptop. You can also refer to this link which is a video that shows steps to find the service tag.
