WiFi Interference From Wireless Mouse & Keyboard
Hello,
I have a Dell KM717 Wireless Keyboard & Mouse. All worked perfectly until I got a new HP laptop which has USB 3.0 ports on it (my old laptop had USB 2.0 ports). Since this new laptop, I have suffered significant interference with my internet connection.
Symptoms:
- Mouse cursor runs around the screen by itself
- Keyboard keystrokes get missed or double up
- WiFi / internet connectivity will mysteriously drop out for no reason or become extremely slow
Solutions tried so far:
- Changing the WiFi channel (5Ghz does not stretch as far as my work station)
- Plugging the wireless receiver into a USB extension port far away from the laptop (as suspect plugging it directly into the USB 3.0 port interferes with the WiFi card in the laptop)
- Plugging the wireless receiver into a USB port on my monitor and then connecting a downstream through a USB Type C cable to my laptop
Plugging the receiver into my monitor combined with changing the WiFi channel has mostly resolved my issue for 95% of the time. Wireless mouse & keyboard now work normally and so does my internet almost all the time.
However, if I connect to a Zoom call, the quality of the call is very hit and miss. Sometimes it is fine. Other times the interference is terrible and I have to disconnect the receiver to resolve the issue. This never used to happen until I got my new laptop which seems to cause this interference. My WiFi connection is fine - I have independently checked it and run a speed test. I am confident the issue relates to wireless interference from the laptop with the wireless receiver for the mouse & keyboard.
Is there anything else I can try to resolve this issue so I can do a Zoom call in confidence that it will not suffer interference from my devices?
