Wifi Card on Inspiron 6400 disapeared....!

Please help…

I have an Inspiron 6400 (fresh out of warrantee :robotsad: ) running XP Professional. WiFi card stopped working this week. WiFi light is out. Ipconfig /all does not report the wireless card at all. Fn+F2 does not have any effect.

It seems like the card fritzed out. I tried installing the latest driver R171131. I receive an error: “Driver not installed”. The Device Manager tool only shows “1394 Net adaptor” and “Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller”. The wireless adaptor disappeared in thin air…

Any ideas?

Look in the Mini Card slot and see if the wireless adapter has somehow worked itself loose in the slot.  See your Service Manual for instructions:
