Wi-Fi intermittent. I lose it then it comes back.

wifi intermittent on my 7 year old XPS8700.  Running windows 10 but the problem started about a year ago and had been running Windows 10 already ok.  I lose all wifi when checking to see which ones are available including my own modem and can't see it or my neighbors.  SO it's not the router. modem.  Then it comes back and works fine.  Should I replace the desktop hardware for wifi/Bluetooth?  Note Bluetooth works fine.
