Slow FTP Download Speed on Company Laptop

Dell G15 5530

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my company-issued laptop regarding slow download speeds when using FTP. We primarily use the FileZilla client, although we've tried other FTP clients as well, but the problem persists.

Here's the situation: our company has branches in different cities, and we regularly need to upload and download files between locations. The IT team chose FTP with FileZilla as our standard for file transfers.

The issue is that when I download files via FTP, the speed is consistently capped at around 1.1 MiB/s. However, when downloading through a browser or other applications, I always achieve my connection's maximum download speed. The upload speed through FTP is fine—it's only the download speed that's affected.

We’ve already tried various solutions without success. Interestingly, when we used another laptop on the same network and credentials as mine, the download speed was much faster, as expected. This leads us to believe the problem is specific to my laptop—possibly due to a driver issue, a specific configuration, or even a compatibility issue with the network adapter, as the other laptop had a different brand of network card.

We've hit a wall trying to resolve this, so I'm hoping someone here might have another idea or potential fix.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! 😊
