Limited or No Connectivity

Linksys WRT54G with one wired desktop and one wireless desktop.  Just purchased a laptop- - signal strength excellent when I connect to my network, but only get  "limited or No Connectivity"  I can connect to an unsecured network which is in my area fine.   Interestingly enough, when I go the to Router "control site" and disable the WEP security, the laptop works fine, but the wireless desktop no longer works.  This leads me to believe that there is some issue with the security settings or something like that on the laptop.????   Any and all suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated., here or to slappydog AT hotmail.com
Thanks in advance

I do know that this appears to be a common problem, , , ,With a brand new Laptop wouldn't I already have the very latest drivers etc???

From your troubleshooting steps, it appears that the problem is with your security settings.   Is there a reason you are using WEP instead of the much more secure WPA?  You should disable all security on the router, remove the settings from each network card and start over setting up the security settings.
