It appears that the Ethernet driver for Dell Studio XPS 8100 no longer works
Several days ago, I had trouble detecting my Ethernet connection on a Dell Studio XPS 8100. My Ethernet worked after I connected it to another system.
Unfortunately, my computer doesn't light up when I plug it in. Later, I discovered that my computer's Ethernet driver was missing. It takes me a few minutes to go to the website to find the solution to my problem.
Everything I do does nothing after I install the software. All drivers were downloaded from the Dell website. The answer is nothing. Troubleshooting says that there is no network adapter, which I can verify since the network tab in the device manager disappears when I unplug my NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming wireless router after having troubleshooting.
I later show hidden devices after showing hidden devices. Without the adapter, the network tab appears again. Each piece of software is enabled, and they are all up-to-date. It doesn't work that way. I am running a 64-bit version of Windows 8.1

We tried reaching you on a private message asking for the Service Tag number to ascertain the warranty but did not receive a response. Please feel free to reply to the private message whenever you are available.

I think a new NIC will have to be purchased for anyone to have a network connection
