Intermittent Wifi issue on my Dell System XPS L321X

Hi,

There has been intermittent problem with my Dell system XPS L321X from past few months, it has increased recently. I tried to update the Wireless Network adapter to the latest version as per dell site, details are as below:

Network Card - Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230
Driver version is 15.2.0.19

I tried to restore the system to factory settings, when I do that it works for few days and then it picks up the problem again. Every time it happens, I see an exclamation mark against network card, when I run scan for changes, the driver disappears, I have to manually restart the system to rectify the issue and that happens for some time, hence it is really intermittent.

I just wanted to make sure to eliminate all software/driver issues before assuming it as a hardware issue. Your help is much appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Pradeep

  2. Click Performance and Maintenance.
  3. Click Power Options.
  4. On the Select a power plan page, click Change plan settings for the plan that you want to change.
  5. On the Change settings for the plan page, click “Change advanced power settings”.
  6. On the “Advance settings” tab, expand “Wireless adapter settings”, expand “Power saving mode” and change the settings to “Maximum Performance”.
  7. Click Apply and then Ok to save changes and exit.

If the above options do not work please try changing the settings for wireless card in Device manager.

Please follow the below mentioned steps;

  2. Right click “My Computer”, select “Manage”.
  3. Select “Device Manager “in the list.
  4. Double click “Network Adapters”.

  6. Select “Properties” and set "Transmit Power" to maximum and "Roaming Aggressiveness" to lowest setting. Click OK.
  7. Restart the computer to save changes and check the wireless signal strength.

Please post the results.
