inspiron 5567 wireless card ac3165

Hi, I have recently purchased a dell laptop and the wifi connection (intel AC3165) is unusable, I have downloaded the latest drivers (19.51.0.4 dated 28.3.2017) to no avail.  To get any kind of wifi connection I need to be within 5 ft of the router, all other devices in the home are working fine with the home wifi network it is just this laptop.  I am using the 2.4Ghz home wifi network, my OS is windows 10, does anyone have any advice or guidance that may help with this problem?
