Inspiron 15 TGL 3000 drops wifi
Hello -
I've had this laptop for 2 weeks and had issues from day 1.
Some context: I don't game. I use it to access Google Drive docs & sheets, answer emails, work in Canva.. basic stuff. I have been using Zoom and discovered it was causing issues with CPU usage and figured out appropriate changes to its settings, but it's the most demanding program I use, and I only use it once a week.
I really shouldn't be dropping wifi mid email when the laptop has only been running for 10 min. All other devices in the house are running fine. I have the same problem regardless of whether the wifi is connected to 2G or 4G on my router. One moment it's fine, the next it's "Connected, no internet" or not connected at all. Then it comes back.
I read on other posts that McAfee and SmartByte have been known to cause this issue with this particular computer system. I'd already uninstalled McAfee because I don't need it, but I also uninstalled SmartByte today and restarted. I was hopeful that would fix the problem but 10 min later it happened again while I was trying to fill out an online form.
I also read on another thread that there was a power saving mode you could uncheck somewhere in wifi settings but it wasn't on this particular Inspiron and it doesn't look like that's an option for me (at least I couldn't find it.)
It's just... this is an awful lot of work to be able to use a computer I just spent nearly $500 on.
Any ideas? Do I just get a refund?
