How disable blue tooth radio in my Vostro 3550?

I want to plug in a blue tooth adapter in my Vostro 3550 usb port.  As such, I need to disable the blue tooth radio in my Vostro 3550, so there is no conflict.

Can anyone tell me how to how to turn off the internal blue tooth radio in my Vostro 3550?  I have Win 7 Pro.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Bob,

You should be able to disable the BT either in the BIOS (by pressing F2 at system bootup/Dell screen) and then going through the BIOS to see if there is a way to just control the BT radio and not the wireless for the wireless radio switch/key.

If this option is not there or doesn't work, an easier fix might be to just go into the Device Manager while you're in Windows and disable the BT radios before installing the new USB device. These will be listed under the Network section (there should be ~2 BT devices, make sure not to disable anything related to your wireless card/ethernet port).

Hi Brad:

thank you for your suggestion.  I don't know how to use the Dell support forum very well, so it took me a while to answer you.

I will give what you said a try.

My BT keyboard and BT mouse work very well.  I just can't get any of my BT speakers to connect to my Dell Vostro using a Plugable 4.0 BT adapter.

I tried to turn off the internal BT radios.  I may not be doing it right.

I heard the BT radios in the Vostro 3550 didn't work.  Thats why I'm using an external BT adapter.

Thanks,

Bob

I looked in the BIOS as you said.

There was nothing that I could find that referred to BT.

I disabled all the drivers I could in Device Manager except for the Centrino driver for WiFi.  I still couldn't connect to my BT speakers.   Bummer.

Thanks for the updates! Sorry to hear it is still not working. On your BT mouse and keyboard was that with the external adapter or with the built-in Bluetooth? Also, when you try to connect the speakers are they showing up under device manager, or is it basically ignoring them? If they do get paired, there might be an option under playback devices (by right clicking on the speaker icon in the bottom right), once there, hopefully you can select them.

Is there anybody here that has successfully installed a  BT adapter on the Vostro 3550, whereby you have BT for mouse, BT for keyboard, and BT for speakers?

I have BT for mouse land keyboard, but cannot get BT for speakers to work.

I tried to disable the built in BT radios in the Vostro 3550, since I heard there is a problem with them.  So I have tried to install a Plugable 4.0 BT adapter.  But I cannot get sound to come out of my BT speakers.

It would be interesting to see if anyone else here has had success in doing this on their Vostro 3550.

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Bob,

I will see if there is anything else I can find. Currently on the external 4.0 adapter were you also able to get the kb and mouse to work with it, or just the internal one? Just wanted to make sure the external was at least functioning like the internal one.

Best regards,
