Drivers from Dell Update Won’t Install on Inspiron 5558 upgraded to Windows 10.

For the past year I’ve been getting messages from Dell Update that

Intel Management Engine Interface Driver, Version 11.0.0.1158, A01, File Name:  Chipset_Driver_0F63X_WN32_11.0.0.1158_A01.EXE

needs to be installed.  It appears to install and there are no error messages but I keep getting messages that it needs to install and it shows up on Dell Support as needing to be installed.

Now, starting about a week or two ago, I started getting messages that

Intel 3160 3165 7260 7265 8260 Wi-Fi Driver, Version 19.60.0.7, A09, File Name:  Intel-3160-3165-7260-7265-8260-Wi-Fi-Driver_YJNRX_WIN_19.60.0.7_A09.EXE

failed to install.  Dell update has tried installing these.  I’ve tried rebooting and installing from both Dell Support Assist and directly from the Dell web site with the same result.  I’ve tried installing separately rather than selecting both updates at the same time but no change.  Can anyone suggest a solution?

granmark,

If you have the latest drivers already installed, then disregard the message.  If needed you can disable auto updates from Dell by right clicking the dell updates and disabling it.

How do I tell if I have the latest drivers installed?  If Dell support says there are updated drivers to install, I assume I don't have the latest ones.

Hallo,

I have the same Issue with my Inspiron 7000. It says that

Intel-8265-WIFI-Driver_71XN1_WIN_19.60.0.7_A07_01.EXE needs to be updated, but if I try to do it automatically via SupportAssist the MPU.exe freezes without any further reply. If I do it manually, i. e. download it from the download page and click the exe. The Intel installer says, that it cannot install this driver.

The Error-Log looks like this:

My currently installed wifi driver is 19.51.8.2.  My system currently runs really bad, with a bluescreen at least once a week. All the diagnostic-test were passed, pre-boot and after boot, therefore I assume its a drivers problem. Since I also have trouble with my wifi connection I was assuming, that it might be the wifi driver.

Any helpful suggestions, which doesn't include 'reinstall windows' are highly appreciated.

Regards, nils

So your answer is to either (1) put up with the annoying message and click "clear" on a daily basis OR (2) disable auto update, which every security expert out there would NOT recommend?

I'm sorry, but those are not answers but rather band aids.

The weird thing is I have been getting these same errors and updated the driver via Intel's website without any problem. Maybe the issue is with the Dell Support Utility?  Maybe someone in that department can fix the problem rather than suggesting the user simply ignore it?
