Dell Wireless WLAN Card Error msg

The full text from my event viewer is

"C:\Program Files\Dell\Dell Wireless WLAN Card\bcmwltry.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.MFC,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found

Appears to go back to 16/06/13 and appers every 7 - 10 secs.

Originally i have sought help via microsoft answer and with their encouragement believe i have updateed every available drive available on the DELL website., after reinstalling VC++2008 .

I am now turning my attention to my WLAN card itself.

But may i ask if any one here has any experience of this fault or has seen it before.

I am a bit concerned that it is not flagged up as an error by my notification centre.

Hi Rockface,

May I know the system model and the Operating system installed on the computer?

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the wirelss card drivers?

If not, uninstall and reinstall the wireless card drivers on the computer.

Check the status in Safemode with networking. Restart the computer and tap F8 on Dell logo and select Safemode with Networking (Windows 7).

Awaiting your response!

Hi Rockface,

Let me know the wireless card model installed on the computer?

Do follow the steps below to check which network card you have in the machine:

  1. Right click computer icon on the desktop.
  2. Select Manage.
  3. Select Device Manager from the right pane of the window that opens.
  4. Expand Network adapters from right pane.
  5. This will list the network card installed in the machine.

Right click the Network adapter. In the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id from the drop down.

Post back with the Device ID.

Now uninstall the wireless card drivers:

  • Click “Start”, type “Device Manager” and press enter.
  • In the “Device Manager” window, click the plus sign next to “Network adapters “to expand it.
  • Under “Network adapters “, right click Network adapter, click “Uninstall”.
  • Check the box “Delete driver software for this device”, click ok and follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the driver.
  • Restart the computer.

Post back with the Device ID. With the correct Device ID I can provide you the correct drivers for the wireless card.

Awaiting your response!

Hi

apologies once aagain for my ignorance.

I managed to dig down to my network adapter and i was trying to find what you call the device instance id/device id and i assumed this to be under the properties on the details TAB.

Hi Rockface,

Thank you for the information.

I assume you have uninstalled the wireless card drivers from device manager.

Install the wireless drivers from the following link:

http://dell.to/15qJN9j

Let me know how it goes.

yes i have now deleted the old driver and the adapter disappeared from my list.

On rebooting the default driver was automatically re-installed and accoding to my event viewer exhibited the same problem.

So i have now installed the driver you directed me to and will post back again when i have checked my event viewer.

I have now rebooted my laptop a few times in the process of my work this afternoon , lastly at around 18:45 hrs. I find the error messages are still present. However they appear to be every 20 seconds.

The one i think is the first says:

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files\Dell\Dell Wireless WLAN Card\bcmwltry.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.MFC,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

I should mention again that after rebooting, the device drive for my wireless lan card automatically re-installed as part of the first reboot since the uninstall and deletion. Is this in itself an issue.

I have attahed a screen shot of the automatic installation after the first reboot.

Once again , thank your for your continued support and patience.

Checking my event log again , i find that my estimate of the interval between these messages was inaccurate. Although the vast majority are for my lan card there are one or two for other things:

Hi Rockface,

You did good. I appreciate the way you troubleshoot the issue.

Does this issue happen in Safemode with networking?

Create a new user account and check if the issue persists:

http://dell.to/134i6Qw

Also, refer the following link for more information:

http://dell.to/XxMHZM

Run diagnostics on the wireless card:

http://dell.to/10sFz2m

From the above link click on “Component “and select “Network card “and run diagnostics.

Let me know the status.

11:11:38 EV stopped working whilst i was resizing window

System log
==========
11:01:47 - 11:01:48  7  SCM errors
11:01:54 - 11:02:04  3  DistributedCOM messages

11:33 no more error messages - shut down from safe mode

11:11:56 Login as usual in NGW

When i created a new ADMIN account and looked in the event log, I found the same issue . Theer are entries for the WLAN CARd about every 7 seconds.

On running diagnostics, the problem i had was that i never connect to anything wirelessly , i was not able to configure the Network adapter and most of the tests failed. SOme such a loopback succeeded. I am not aware that it is possible to capture the diagnostic results for you to view.

On the subject of my wireless card i should say that most of the tests, the ones that require connectivity to the outside world, i had to cancel because i have never used the wireless card , but some of the tests that do not require this passed. Is it possible for my to review these and send the results to ypou if they would help ?

Looking at Windows update i have noticed an update called "Broadcom driver update for Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN mini Card" as well as KB2709981, KB2574819 AND kb2670838. Do you think any of these will help, esp the broadcom update ?

Thx once again.

Hi Rockface,

Let’s try few more steps as well which can fix the issue.

To resolve bcmlogon.dll file loading issue you may require to reset GinaDLL to work. Refer to the below link and check if Method 1 in the article assists you resolve the issue:

Hi.

Thank yuou for a speedy response.

After reading the article , i assume that all i need to do is remove the Gina.DLL .

However , first i must tell you that when i logged into my admin account a small message appear as per the first image in the attachment

However, When i opened regedit to try to find the entry, under winlogon i could not find a GinaDLL entry at all. As per the 2nd image in the attachment
