Dell Venue Pro 8

I am using a Dell Venue Pro 8 with all the latest updates. I am having an issue with the wifi connection staying connected. Also, when it looses connection the adapter will not reconnect. In the past I have uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter and then set the network access back up. I have tried setting a static ip as well as automatic configuration. Is there an update to fix this, or what should I do?

Sincerely,

Thank you for your response Todd. The following is an answer I received yesterday. This solution worked fine.

The following steps fixed the wi-fi problem for me.

1. Download and save the wireless driver http://del.ly/6180B1crA

2. In Device Manager, uninstall and delete driver software for the wireless 1538 adapter.

3. Delete “ar6knwf81.sys” from C:\Windows\System32\Drivers.

4. Go to Settings> Update and Recovery> Recovery > Advanced Startup> Restart now

5. Open Troubleshoot and Advanced Options.

6. Open Command Prompt and type "sfc /scannow”. Shutdown the tablet when it's finished.

7. Boot up the tablet and run the wireless driver setup in Compatibility Mode for Windows 8.

8. Connect to your WI-FI.

Hi,

A couple of quick questions.  First, what version of Windows do you have on that Venue Pro 8?  Have you updated it to Win10?  (You mentioned you have all the updates).  Second, do you know which version of the Venue 8 Pro you have?  (There are two, the 3845 and 5830.)  You can find out the specific model number by going to the main Dell support site, inputting your service tag, and the system will take you to the product support documents for your specific model.

Does this behavior happen on all networks, or only one specific network?  If it's just one network, have you updated the firmware on the router that you're connecting to?

Since you specified all updates have been installed I'll assume you've updated the driver for that network card.  Let us know which version of the Venue 8 Pro you're using, and the operating system on it, and I'll see what information I can find to help you.

Todd
