Saksham Goyal,
Can you connect to other sites? If so, Uninstall and reinstall the Dell Software then, try running the update again. What are you clicking on to update?

I have the same problem. It started about two days ago. I downloaded the latest version from dell.com and uninstalled and re-installed "Dell Update" several times. It's still not able to connect to the internet. That's what the message tells me. All the other network connections (email, web, others) are working properly. To me it seems to be a "Dell Update" problem...
Looking forward to a solution soon.
Best regards
Heinz

I have this problem too now :-( had it for about 10 days, all other Internet things work fine so assume the Dell software is "confused" - disappointed! Peter

Hello,
Did you ever solve this problem?? Having same problem here with Windows 8.1, Dell Inspiron 15 (3521) laptop. Have uninstalled/ reinstalled several versions of Dell Update from the Dell website, stopped/started Dell Update Service, went into firewall and created an exception to allow Dell Update through the firewall - nothing helps! The Dell Update Tray icon just sits in the tray and shows "connecting..." constantly. Every other program and app can connect to the internet. Right click on the icon and "Enable Auto-check" is grayed out and has a check mark in it. Also, "Check for Updates" is grayed out. Strangely, I have another identical laptop and Dell Update works perfectly on it!

Did you upgrade to Windows 10 or reinstall Windows 10? Either way, that seems like a drastic measure to get Dell Update working. If you were upgrading anyway and Dell Update started working afterwards, that would be a bonus. I have Windows 8.1, and I'm not ready to upgrade just yet (not looking forward to all the software incompatibilities). Already ran system file check and no problem there. Dell update still doesn't work!

I faced the issue on win 8.1 earlier, then I upgraded to win 10 with no compatibility issues at all but the dell update problem was still not fixed. It was only then that I planned to do a reset when my system was turning into a slouch. Gotta say that windows 10 fells fresh after a reset but I ran into a audio issue where my audio increases automatically after playing a paused video.

So by reset, do you mean a factory recovery? On Windows 8.1, there is nothing that I know of as a "reset". What is REALLY strange in my case, is that I bought two IDENTICAL Dell Inspiron 15 (3521) laptops for my children - one has this problem with Dell Update, the other has no such issue!

No, reset actually re installs the os without deleting any of your personal data while all the installed programs will be removed and a file will be dropped on your desktop mentioning all the removed programs.
It can be found under; under Settings > Change PC settings > Update and recovery > Recovery > Refresh your PC without affecting you files > Get started
Seems like this not a model specific issue, must be some messed up settings in the OS. Alternatively, you can get all the driver updates directly from the dell website.

And here we go again with yet another waste of hours on otherwise perfectly working systems, spinning our wheels over a Dell-specific app issue. Same here, Windows 10, Dell Precision M3800. Love it, super high-end great performing system. $2500.00. But good luck getting Dell's applications & drivers to run correctly on it.
