Dell Latitude E6420 with DW1530 Wireless NIC Doesn't Recognize 5GHz Network

Hello,

I have Dell Latitude E6420 with DW1530 wireless network card that cannot see 5GHz network that my wireless router broadcasts. I tried creating 5GHz hotspot through my smartphone too but it does not see it still.

Also it cannot see 11, 12, 13 channels broadcasted within 2.5GHz network but I attribute that to the laptop being purchased in US while I am outside of it.

My main concern is laptop's ability to connect to 5GHz networks. I found information that network card is actually capable of connecting to 5GHz networks so I am not sure why mine can't.

Thanks

There could be several reasons why your Dell Latitude E6420 with DW1530 wireless network card is not able to see the 5GHz network. Here are some possible solutions:

  1. Check if your wireless card supports 5GHz networks: It is important to ensure that your wireless network card is capable of connecting to 5GHz networks. Although the DW1530 is capable of 5GHz connectivity, it is possible that your particular card may not support it. You can check the specifications of your card to confirm if it supports 5GHz networks.

  2. Check if your router is broadcasting 5GHz network: You should verify if your router is actually broadcasting a 5GHz network. Some routers have separate settings for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies, so you should ensure that the 5GHz frequency is enabled and broadcasting.

  3. Update your wireless card driver: It is possible that your wireless card driver needs to be updated to work properly with 5GHz networks. You can download the latest driver from the manufacturer's website and install it on your laptop.

  4. Check for interference: Some electronic devices in your home or workplace can interfere with the 5GHz network signal, causing connectivity issues. Try moving your laptop closer to the router or removing any nearby devices that may be interfering with the signal.

  5. Reset your wireless card: Sometimes resetting your wireless card can help to resolve connectivity issues. You can do this by disabling and then enabling the card in the Device Manager.

If none of these solutions work, you may need to contact your network card manufacturer or your laptop manufacturer for further assistance.
