Dell dimension 3000 not connecting to internet

Dell dimension 3000 will not connect to WiFi through Ethernet cable to WiFi modem. It will say that it is connected with the little icon at the bottom right of the screen, but when I try to go on internet explorer, it says I’m not connected to the internet. I just installed the latest bios but still nothing.
