Can I connect a desktop and laptop to Dell Docking Station D6000?
I have a D6000, which I've used successfully with my work laptop for years. Now I'd also like to connect it to my gaming computer to effectively use the following for both (though never at the same time):
- Ethernet cable
- USB mouse
- USB keyboard
- USB webcam
- USB headset
- Dell S3422DWG ultrawide curved gaming monitor (already successfully connected to the laptop through the dock, and the desktop directly).
Can anyone confirm if I can just plug all the USB devices and ethernet cable into the dock and then connect to both through the desktop? If so, which USB port should I use for the desktop?
I suspect the ethernet cable will need to connect to the desktop through a separate switch. I'm unsure how the monitor would respond to effectively connecting twice to the gaming computer, once directly and once through the dock. (if this approach works at all)
My goal is to have a setup where I can use the same USB devices for both setups without manually unplugging anything as I have been. If I can use the D6000 for it, that would be amazing.
