Built-In Keyboard struggles to Work Without Swapping on and off Airplane Mode

For context, when I'm working at home, I have my laptop connected to an external keyboard. However, when I'm needing to be away from my setup, my computer struggles to consistently use/activate the built-in keyboard. Only work around to this I've been able to find is to turn on airplane mode, but that only works for maybe less than a minute before turning it off, thus needing to repeat the process. As far as I'm aware, all the drivers and additional files are up to date, but I cannot seem to get my computer's keyboard to work when needed. Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.
