Annoying klaxon sound with network connection
About four weeks ago, my Dell XPS One 27 started making this really annoying klaxon sound every time the network cuts out.
Despite my best efforts to keep the card active, this includes when the machine wakes from sleep.
Anyone got any ideas as to:
a) turn the sound off completely
b) change it to something really quiet
c) keep the network card alive all the time (and yes, I unchecked the power saving box already)
Thanks
Jules

I found it -- search for all .wav files and looked for the sound itself, the path to the sound then told me what was using it. A sidebar gadget that monitors network traffic upated itself and enabled the sound.

Hi Jules,
It appears the sound scheme might have been changed. Please check under Sound, if the sound theme is Windows Default. You may refer to article Here for changing Sound Scheme.
Hope this helps.

There is no Windows sound event for network connections, this appears to be some other service or application that is detecting the event and playing the sound.

Hi Jules,
Please share if you have tried changing the sound scheme to Windows Default. If the issue persists, I would suggest you to run msconfig and disable unnecessary startup items/programs and see if it helps. For more information, you may refer to article Here.
