Wrongly configured helper-address but DHCP is working
Hi all,
i am in the discovery process of the switches of my new job
We have three sites, and only one DHCP server for all.
The "core switch" of each site has the proper DHCP server set as helper-address, for all VLANs.
On other switchs, the IP defined as helper-address points to a long-disappeared server. However, DHCP is correctly served by the central DHCP server.
Should i correct on each switch and set the relevant helper-address ? How does it work right now ?
Switches are N1524P., and one site uses a 3024F as core switch.

FCambot,
You can find the options for configuring the helper-address on page 1534 here.
As far as it still functioning, we really don't have enough details to determine, but my guess is that you don't have an IP time out configured, so those are the last IPs they were assigned. Again that is just a guess based on what we know.
Let me know if this helps.

It appears that the switches with incorrect helper address act as level 2 switches in my topology, and only the core switch serves requests.
Which is why it's working
