VLANs are overwritten from entryType 1 to 1 - LOG message - N2000 Series

Hello

I just setup a new N2000 switch (latest firmware installed). Port 48 is the uplink trunk. Port 40 is a trunk port to a network interface with multiple VLANs. I get the messages below in the logs:

INFO MAC_MOVE: Mac 68:05:CA:29:D9:3E in VLAN: 3047 is overwritten from entryType 1 to 1 and port Gi1/0/48 to Gi1/0/40
INFO MAC_MOVE: Mac 68:05:CA:29:D9:3E in VLAN: 3592 is overwritten from entryType 1 to 1 and port Gi1/0/48 to Gi1/0/40
INFO MAC_MOVE: Mac 68:05:CA:29:D9:3E in VLAN: 3046 is overwritten from entryType 1 to 1 and port Gi1/0/48 to Gi1/0/40
INFO MAC_MOVE: Mac 68:05:CA:29:D9:3E in VLAN: 3594 is overwritten from entryType 1 to 1 and port Gi1/0/48 to Gi1/0/40
INFO MAC_MOVE: Mac 68:05:CA:29:D9:3E in VLAN: 3041 is overwritten from entryType 1 to 1 and port Gi1/0/48 to Gi1/0/40
INFO MAC_MOVE: Mac 68:05:CA:29:D9:3E in VLAN: 3060 is overwritten from entryType 1 to 1 and port Gi1/0/48 to Gi1/0/40

Could someone, please explain the log message I get above? It probably has to do with the fact that ports 40 and 48 are both trunk links that allow the same untagged VLANs through but I don't understand why the switch is telling me this.

Thank you for your help.

Hello igano,

I have seen an internal article that says these messages can be prevented by using a logging level of Level 4 (Warnings).

Can you try changing you logging level and check results?

Can you confirm you are on the latest Dell EMC Networking N2000 Series Firmware Version 6.7.1.21 (28 Mar 2023)

Please note we are unable to assist directly in making initial installation/configurations, but we do have professional services which can help you to deploy the configuration you need. You may consider contacting Dell Sales department for a professional deployment contract if needed.  I hope the resources I am able to supply will be helpful for you.

Hello Charles

I can confirm, the switch has the latest firmware - 6.7.1.21. The logging level is already at 4, however I don't see the message anymore. Strange. If anyone knows what this message was about, please let me know. Just curious.

Thank you again.

Thank you
